"All that separates life from death is rage, hatred, and my slashing blade."
— Blade Acolyte
The Blade Acolyte is a unit of the Lotus Clan.
Novices of the Forbidden Path who react to their agonizing Rites of Initiation with anger and struggle are marked as the children of Lythis, dark bladesmen of the Three. During their apprenticeship at Lythis' forge, Bladed Acolytes meditate upon their natural affinity for violence. This rage is focused outwardly, upon the enemies of the Lotus, and inwardly, upon their physical inadequacies. Frustration slowly and painfully reshapes them, until their elongated limbs and steely skin cause them to resemble the wicked, curved scimitars they carry.
When not engaged in meditation, Acolytes may be seen sharpening, polishing, and occasionally speaking to these swords. The Forbidden Path does not lend robust health to its practitioners, and the Blade Acolyte is less sturdy than a mundane swordsman. However, his inhuman agility and deep understanding of violent death grants him terrifying skills in combat.
Offensively-oriented, the Blade Acolytes have good speed, average health pool, and attack damage, so they fulfill the role of flanking assassins to cut down fragile rangers. Their innate Blade sharpening boosts their attacks to help them both perform their assassinations better and help them stand their own against other melee fighters, such as Serpent Swordsman, who has the same health and attack damage but attacks faster.
The Inner Strength Battle Gear effectively increases the Acolytes' survivability and allows them to fully heal even before the Lotus player gains access to Channellers. Blade Acolytes need only 1 Yin jewel for attack boost with Silvered Steel. Way of the Root -to enlarge Acolytes' health pool- costs as many as four Yins and is only achievable in a game's middle or even later phase, when most Acolytes shall've advanced further up the Path of Corruption to Diseased or Warlocks.
Can be acquired from any of Lotus Brothers.
When empowered by Lythis' Shade, the Blade Acolyte learns to contain and repair damage to his decaying body by 30% of his total health, even as he parries and thrusts at his baffled opponents.

- Blade Acolyte is the official "informator" of the Lotus clan, as one may hear his voice informing players about rice/watter insufficiency and victory/defeat.
- As of 1.50q, Blade Acolyte deals insane damage to only Dragon clan's peasant huts. It is considered one of the game breaking bugs.
- The manual states that the Acolyte's Inner Strength restore 30% of his maximum health. However, in-game he consumes 25% stamina to restore only 25% maximum health.
- After sharpening his blades, the Acolyte's next two attacks will deal 60% more damage than he normally does.
